COVID
Wednesday’s are usually busy for me and October 9th was no exception. My two jobs overlapped and I had to run between the office and the hospital. I did some education to nursing students and then I went to visit my Nanny who has been in hospital and we had the best time! We went outside and enjoyed a beautiful autumn day.
I went to bed feeling fine, but as I was reading I noticed a sore throat which is very unusual for me. I had a sneaking suspicion that it may be Covid, but went to sleep. The first thing I did upon waking was take a test . . . and that faint pink test line appeared.
And thus began a week from hell. Every day worse than the previous. An explosive accumulation of unpleasant symptoms. The worst thing about it was I couldn’t visit my Grandmother, who I knew was facing her final days.
LOSING MY INCREDIBLE NANNY
We were always close, my Nanny and I. We had a special bond and an incredible love. These final weeks were difficult to watch as she was declining so rapidly. Conversely, they were incredible as well because we bore witness to her incredible strength and determination. We also showered her with love and felt it back. She died peacefully on the evening of October 14th, Thanksgiving Day, in the middle of a thunder and lightening storm. Although she has left a void in our physical world, our spirits are full of her essence.
