NUMBERS OF THE WEEK:
STEPS: 3585
Yeah I know-poor effort. On all fronts. I have no excuses, I am just not moving enough. I am not making this a priority and I need to.
WEIGHT: Up 3 lbs
This is the first time I have weighed in for a long time. This does not surprise me at all. I have basically taken the last 4-6 weeks off. I wasn’t tracking, I was only minimally planning and preparing, and I was indulging my cravings regularly. First I was sick and then I was sad. But I am also accountable and I know that I have come too far and still have too far to go to let this slip get me off track. And so . . . I will journey on.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:
Depression Donuts (Courtesy of LG and Vandal Dounuts)
It was a sombre mood the morning after the US Election.
I truly cannot process what is happening right now-and my heart aches for women, immigrants, the LGBTQI2S+ folks. I fear for the US Democracy and the impact that this will have on the rest of the world. I rest assured that I am not alone in my unease.
Thankfully one of our brilliant providers recognized that this would have a profound impact on our team and they brought Depression Donuts to help lift our spirits.
SONG OF THE WEEK
Birds of a Feather: Billie Eilish
I remember the first time I ever heard Billie Eilish, it was years ago and I was listening to an Alternative Apple Music radio station. I knew I was hearing something incredible. It was early one Sunday morning and I was driving to Point Pleasant Park. Her voice is so unique. Haunting. Beautiful. Her musical talent is unbelievable. When I got home I looked her up and I was blown away that she had just turned 17 years old. I think I listened to Bad Guy everyday for the next 2 years.
It is a rare artist who can give you goosebumps, bring tears to your eyes, a smile to your lips, all while holding your breath listening to a single song. Check out When the Party’s Over or Ocean Eyes to experience it.
But the song I have on repeat at the moment is Birds of a Feather. I can’t but think that Birds of a Feather need to stick together more now than ever before.
