Week 42: September 1-7

NUMBERS OF THE WEEK
Steps: Did Not Record
The number is low and not reflective of my true step count
* I forgot to wear my watch one day and another day it died midday because I didn’t charge it before I went to work
I really need to make sure that I am wearing my fully charged watch each day. That will be my goal for next week

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Nanny’s 97th Birthday

My Maternal Grandmother, Sylvia Fahie is truly a wonder! She told me she never thought she’d live this long, and still really enjoys life! She loves playing going dancing, playing Bridge and going out for lunch. She is the Matriarch of a big family: 8 kids, 19 grandkids and over a dozen great grandchildren. She has a great smile that would light up a room and loves to laugh and have a good time.

She also has the most incredible memory, so I know where I inherited my vault for useless information, including pop culture knowledge, except hers spans 1940’s-1980’s. She regales us with the most interesting stories from her childhood-like the time her whole family (think big Irish Catholic family) had to be quarantined because she had rheumatic fever. There was a big black band on the door to identify the house as being in isolation. She remembers being jealous of her father who would climb out of a window on the side of the house and sneak through the backyard to go to work. We compared our recent Covid quarantine experiences, and I honestly couldn’t have imagined getting through the isolation without the ability to binge watch shows on Netflix and scroll endlessly through TikTok and Instagram.

I am so lucky and truly blessed to still have both of my Grandmother’s living independently and in their late 90’s. It’s a rarity and one I am trying not to take for granted.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK

Sabrina Carpenter: Short N’ Sweet

Sabrina Carpenter is a pop princess! Being cute and blond certainly helps, but she’s also quirky and has a good voice. Catchy songs like Espresso and Please Please Please have been huge summer hits, but I also quite like the song Bed Chem. Overall it was a fun listen with a few good songs, but I’d choose Chappell Roan every time.
